Scholarship Program

The 416th ENCOM Association has established a scholarship program for the purpose of assisting younger enlisted soldiers of the 416th Theater Engineer Command (TEC) pursue their professional military and civilian career goals.   1. Two $500 scholarships will be awarded annually in June for the next school year.
  2. All soldiers in the rank of Private to Staff Sergeant and assigned to any Corps of Engineer (COE) unit located at the Parkhurst Reserve Center are eligible to apply. This includes HQ and HHC 416th Theater Engineer Command (TEC), HHC and FSC 863rd Engineer Battalion, and any other COE units or detachments located there.
  3. The scholarship award may be applied to a university bachelor’s degree, community college associate degree, or for any accredited construction related trade school certificate. Award can be utilized for in-person, or on-line learning that leads to a degree, or other certification.
  4. The award will be paid directly to the soldier and may be used for tuition, books, equipment, tools, or living expenses. Upon selection for a scholarship the awardee must present proof of acceptance, or attendance at the school of his choice.
  5. A soldier may only be awarded one scholarship in a 12-month period. Scholarships do not automatically renew. Maximum scholarships funds that can be award to an individual soldier is $2,000.
  6. Scholarship awardees will be selected based upon:
    1. An essay of 400 to 500 words written by the applicant. The essay must include the reason for the scholarship request, how the course of study relates to their military and civilian career goals, and what service in the US Army Reserve means to the soldier.
    2. Applicant may voluntarily submit up to two letters of recommendation.
    3. Record of military service including awards and decorations if voluntarily submitted.
    4. High school or college grades if voluntarily submitted.
    5. ACT or SAT score if voluntarily submitted.
  7. Preference will be given to soldiers pursuing a career in any science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) field, or a related construction engineering field.
  8. Scholarship awardees will also receive a complementary two-year membership in the 416th ENCOM Association.

  10. Scholarships recipients will be chosen by a sub-committee of the 416th ENCOM Association board of directors and confirmed by the entire board of directors.
